You know, she might consider this next spring so I'm waiting patiently to think about the dp100. To be honest, the only reason I was able to get the 75v right now is because my dealer (integrity audio) gave me a very competitive price.Two other comments:
1) question about redbook comparison: I did compare the scd1 and 75v for straight redbook playback through the dcs and the 75v was noticeably better (even my spouse said that she noticed the difference and she isn't at all into this stuff). I haven't tried 75v vs. scd1 as full cd players (by-passing the dcs upsampling) but I did check the scd1 with and without the dcs at one point and consistently preferred using the dcs equipment. (sometimes the 192 upsampling doesn't do all that much on some selections, but I generally prefer the dac on the delius to the dac in the sony).
2) the point about what I'm implying about sacd versus redbook -- this is exactly right what was posted. I'm VERY encouraged that sacd in its infancy from a midfi company like sony (don't get me wrong, I love the sony) can match up to equipment with a list price of about $28K with only a $1.5-$3K investment.
