So you think analogue vinyl can get closer to live concert or the original? I am not a musician but my wife used to be one! You need the new 5 channel digital SACD/DVD-A to reproduce (imitate) a life concert at home, not a analogue system. Reproducing music at home that sound close to a live concert is NOT reproducing the original sound. Try to bring the band from the concert hall to your home and let them play there to see if it really sound the same as they were in the concert hall.Analogue recording and reproduction is suppose to be the best "theoretically" but there are also many physical limitations :
Inner groove distortion: Inability to have bass signals panned hard left or right. Bass is usually mono'd and set to the centre of the image when the record is cut to ensure the result is trackable.
Pre/post echo: Tracing distortion as the stylus does not follow the same path across the record as the cutting head - unless you have a parallel tracking arm.
The list goes on and on but that doesn't devalue the enjoyment that audiophiles get from their LPs and I never say analogue are not enjoyable. What I mean is some days later, digital will rule audio industry.
