Hi JCW,

thanks for posting the article. I've been interested in the nuts and bolts of CD sound for a while, and the comparison of word length against sampling frequency was interesting to read, and highly relevant.

The last paragraph said:

"Most people thought the dCS converter chain sounded more "analog" than the analog, which always elicited big grins on the faces of the dCS staff."

Of course the dCS chain is adding distortion, but the simple point being made is that when we listen and say "this is better", it doesn't mean that it truely IS better. The link between reality and our perception of it can be unreliable at times, and maybe those who put absolute faith in their listening abilities over measured results should think twice. And vice versa of course. But nothing worth getting upset over.
