Re: Why bother with SACD when...

So you think JS's comparison is a true indication of the future of digital audio? Not only is the SCD-1 a first generation player, but JS compared it to a $19,000 (almost 4 times the price of the Sony) DAC/upsampler combination! CD sounded horrible for the first 8-10 years it was out; for SACD to sound this good on a first generation player is saying something! This is with a Sony player, wait till the high end players from Wadia, Mark Levinson, and Spectral (etc.) come out; then we'll hear what SACD can really do. This will be a fairer comparison. Then lets see which is really better. Not only that but the technology/sound will mature and get better and better as time goes by. Then there will be no comparison.
It's funny how as Audiophile's we are suppose to be more informed then the average audio consumer, yet "ts" proves that's not always the case!!!!
