A Redbook CD rig that upsamples to 192 kHz might seem pretty neat, but it does not gain anything sonically. I'd own a "96" over a "192", simply because if all else was equal, the RFI generation would be lower. And I'd own a non-upsampling player/DAC (or one with defeatable upsampling) over an upsampling DAC, for the same aforementioned reason.
