Re: disagree strongly

I have owned the Marantz SA-1 SACD player for about 2 weeks. In the context of my system,it is definitly a cut above 16/44 CD and even 45 rpm vinyl, which had been my previous ultimate source.I have about 30 SACD discs,so my conclusions are somewhat limited.I have noted a considerable variance in the difference SACD makes depending on how it was mastered. The DSD sourced discs are much better than the anologue tape sourced discs.Regarding the SA-1 ,I understand it outputs directly from the DSD D/A converters in fully balanced configuration.I have not compared it side by side with the Sony, but I have spent some time listening to the Sony and feel the Marantz sounds better. One note, the Marantz accesses tracks immediatly, unlike the glacial Sony.So far the SA-1 as a CD player is not in the same league as my Linn CD12,but then neither is any other 16/44 device that I have heard. In conclusion all I can say is SACD is something special that brings me more of the musical experience than anything else so far.
