It was interesting to hear some more about the Marantz unit since I haven't seen much on it yet. I agree with Jazz Inmate about the quality of the format and I've been VERY pleased with my sony scd1 player even with the limited selection of sacd's. I've heard a number of people comment that they 1) can't hear a difference; or 2) find cd superior to sacd. Even a local dealer (hi end) said that he thought a wadia 270/27ix combo beat out sacd. As for me, I run cd's through dcs purcell/delius upsampling to 192khz and this improves them greatly for the most part (listen almost exclusively to jazz with bit of classical). However, it just doesn't provide the transparency and vividness of sacd in my view.
