Take an upsampler at 88.2 kHz. Locked to the 44.1 kHz output. Every second upsampled word is (or should be) a *direct* value read sequentially from the CD. The remaining upsampled words are interpolated values. Now take an upsampler at 96 kHz. "Locked" to the same 44.1 kHz output. How is the data handled from the CD? Maybe I'm wrong about the "pre-interpolation," but how else could this be done?
