***I'm not sure I get the point of an unfair comparison.Garth, not to belabor the point, but if indeed they are using anything other that straight multibit converters then such simple comparisson of rates IS misleading. The rate numbers mean completely different things for different designs. A 24 bit DAC running at 700kHz produces vastly greater volumes of data than a single bit running at 10MHz, that's all. So really the rates should be only mentioned together with topology definitions.
***The sonic differences between the odd and even upsample rates from 44.1 are VERY subtle and dCs "suggests" there may be sonic advantages to the even upsampled rates but this has nothing to do with the "quality" or "thoroughness" of the upsampling.I am sorry if I sound like nitpicking, but I believe it is incorrect to use the terms odd and even in this context. The distinction is really between the integer (either odd or even) and non-integer rate conversions.
***There is however more computation done to achieve the odd rates. I wouldn't go as far as to say from my own experience that one is good and the other bad.
