Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Re: See if you agree with my DAC choice for ML 31.5 ... Different views welcome!

I have owned the Levinson, dCS and others and now own two that are remarkably better and for less money. The Audio Aero Capitole 24/192 player and for dac only the Audiomeca Enkianthus. Both units are so much more analog sounding than the dCS or the Levinson. There are some things that really impressed me about the dCS gear, but when I got past the initial listening and lived with it for a while, I felt it to be thin and dry with enormous transparency.

With both the products I have now, I am getting the things I loved in the dCS without any thinness or dryness, it is just so musical. As far as the Levinson, I think it would be a huge mistake to invest in any of their current (long in the tooth)DAC's until they change to the Anagram chipset that is being used in the Audiomeca and Audio Aero. The replacement for the ML 39, the ML 390S currently uses this chipset and I am sure their other products will follow shortly.

This is a fun time for digital!
