There are a lot of people who have a superb set of ears
(especially on this forum) who can tell the difference in sound
caused by digital cables, shakti stones, the color of the rack, the
number of flies sitting on the DAC, the temperature of the room,
humidity, etc. You get my point. But there are a lot of other people
in this forum, and in the real world, who cannot tell the difference
betweene a $10K DAC and a $300 CD player. But we choose to keep our
mouths shut lest we get branded as tin-ears, or worse still, lovers
of mid-fi ! I have learnt my lesson. I will be spending most of my
money on speakers, preamplifiers, and amps. I will not be spending
my money on expensive DAC's, transports, cables, interconnects,
shakti stones, AC conditioners, etc., etc. I am not saying that cables, transports, DAC's do not make a difference to people with better hearing than mine. What I am saying is that I cannot hear a
difference because of these products and I am not going to be
spending my hard earned money on these products. So if you cannot hear the difference betweene your $10+ K DAC and a $700 CD player, you are not alone. Of course you can wait for break
in, try different cables, etc. But let me ask you -- for 10 times the
money, should it be that difficult to make out the difference ?
