Anyone heard a Goldmund Meta Research Transport?

I have a line on a Goldmund Meta Research Transport for under $1000. Unfortunately, I've never heard one, although others have told me they are quite fine. Is it worth it to put a grand into one these days? How will this stack up as a CD transport vs. a 777 or a more modern piece? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I need to make a decision fast.
