dCS Purcell/Delius direct to amp vs. through Placette preamp

I'd be interested in any experiences with dCS gear running upsampled at 192 directly to an amp (using the digital volume control as an attenuator)...vs. running the dCS gear at full signal through a preamp. I have the Placette dual mono preamp, and frankly, am having a hard time deciding.
