Had an RME ADI-2, and while it was good, had some digital hash that was a bit bothersome. Was able to pick up a Hugo-2 for short money. The Hugo-2 sounded WAY better to me than the ADI-2. This DAC convinced me that the custom filtering DAC was the way to go.
Based on the findings from the Hugo-2, auditioned the M-Scaler. This was another wow moment. The maximum upscaling really makes digital sound like the best analog source, with no down side.
From there, upgraded to the Hugo-TT2. The M-Scaler/TT2 combination, IMHO, is among the very best digital has to offer.
