I have used Mpingo discs for decades, and if I recall correctly the holographs employ a similar wood, African rosewood, Gabon ebony, one of those. I even met "the Monks" from Shun Mook at the show in Vegas, which was kind of weird since Pierre Sprey was using a Mpingo disc knockoff I made for him and it was sitting right there on the floor when the Monks walked into the room. Knocking off the Mpingo discs isn't a slam dunk as the discs are directional.
