Interesting as I have been using dCS DACs for the past 19 or 20 years. I do recall trying to get a lock between the Verdi and an old Sony ES DAC and being unable to. The Sony DAC was so old that it may have pre-dated the SP/dif protocol but with what you report - perhaps not.
The wordclock interface may be a reason. If you had a dCS DAC you would find that the wordclock interface allows you to select which component acts as the master clock and which as slaves to it ( transport, DAC or system masterclock). As this selection cannot presumably be made via the Mytek maybe that is a cause of your difficulty as the Verdi does not "know" its role regarding timing. I assume that you are using the Mytek wordclock output? It is obscure from the Mytek specification if this is compatible with the dCS. The dCS expects a clock input of 44.1 0r 48 KHz/s @ 75ohms. Mytek specify 192 KHz/s or DSD. These are integers of the rates for the Verdi clock input but are not the same. Can you get it to function without the wordclock link?
