Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: Survey of inmates, Subject ( do you like or dislike Upsampling setting of your DAC. And Why?)

"NOS ? --- A New Old Stock Dac ?"

In the case of DACs, NOS refers to "non-over-sampling"..... For CD, it converts the 16/44 words directly to analog, without any intermediate processing.

Since non-oversampling implies no digital filtering at all (oversampling is the digital filter), the "aliases" (above the audio range) are either passed through or filtered with solely analog filtering.

A lot of people like NOS DACs, I believe they don't do complex music particularly well..... Although maybe the best for simple acoustic music like string quartets, acoustic guitar, or minimally accompanied vocals.
