Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: Survey of inmates, Subject ( do you like or dislike Upsampling setting of your DAC. And Why?)

While I can upsample or even convert PCM to DSD from my computer, I prefer sending the native PCM sample rate to my DAC. Unless the file (or CD) practically 'requires' some form of doctoring because it sounds inherently bad as is, I'd rather leave things fairly untouched. Same for my DAC... no additional sample rate conversion.

As for converting PCM to DSD on the computer, I tried it with HQPlayer and it just reminds me of that unnatural and homogenously smoothed out sound of SACDs. I didn't care much for SACDs when they came out, and I don't much care for DSD files today. But I listen mostly to blues and rock. I don't want my hard hitting rock to sound weirdly smooth. ;-)
