Dear Adi,Whilst it is true that filtering at higher frequency with a less steep slope is better sonically, it cannot be disregarded what happens to the signal when you up or oversample.
Resampling the CD 44.1kHz datastream and interpolating it to 88.2 or 96kHz cannot increase the amount of information originally present on the disc AND due to the inevitable errors in the calculations used in the interpolation process, information must be lost.
Therefore the only way to retain the original information is to stay at the bit rate present on the disc and use an analogue filter.
Sincerely,
Peter Qvortrup
