If you find a used Verdi Encore then, frankly, you need not bother buying a Purcell. The Verdi Encore will upsample to DSD and feed it to the Elgar Plus. All that the Purcell will offer in addition is basically PCM upsampling which I would say is inferior by comparison (and so I believe would the majority of dCS stack owners). You can also then use the wordclock. And you get SACD replay in which, although I appreciate that you only own 5 of them, I am willing to bet that your interest will grow given the dCS' capabilities with this format compared to many competitors.
If you still want a Purcell then it isn't necessary to find the latest spec. if you get either of the Verdis. All you need do is find a DSD equipped one (yes, they once were upgradable from non DSD but it seems that dCS no longer support this according to your statement). The upgrades thereon are achieved in the firmware and the updates to the EPROM are available from dCS on CDR's which load via the Verdi (either Verdi or Verdi Encore).
Good luck! It will be worth it.
