RE: 'what music is all about'

"When DVD came out there was an editorial in Stereophile saying, why use 96khz? It's incompatible with Redbook."

It was the presumption that DAT would take off, and become the predominant audio format. Didn't happen.

Come to think of it, had it been 88.2 kHz, we wouldn't be in this conundrum.

I thought making a "48 kHz CD" with the existing Redbook CD tooling would have been the ultimate all-around solution, but you know.....
