Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: More correct info on DSD and other clarifications

What I still don't understand it, why EVER do asynchronous when you can do synchronous? Is it because dacs needed somewhere along the line to decode 32kHz signals as well as 44kHz? In short, compatibility? But who needs that compatibility anymore? Satellite radio?
I still think it is too bad that with so much hard drive space around and so much computing power, we are stuck with 'high end' multibit players that still don't really sound that great, and year after year they come out with little innovation and overbuilt cases and price tags.

Sadly, DSD simply resolves poorly in the treble, and is loaded with noise artifacts there that have to be cancelled out somehow. I also incidentally never heard a DSD setup that I liked all that much, and definitely the treble sounded weird each time.

Marketing compromised solutions to basic problems as 'fundamental improvements' is the name of the game here, unfortunately for the consumer.
