Re: Whats the story with EMM Labs gear...?

I owned the EMM equipment, side-by-side with the full stack of dCS. EMM makes a terrific first impression, but the longer I had it the more I preferred the ease and musicality of dCS. However, I understand there have been modifications and improvements at EMM, so I am a year out of date. The weak point of dCS is reliability; can't remember how many Verdis, Purcells and Elgars I have been through. Only the Verona time clock has been trouble-free! Looking forward to a player that is simpler, dependable, and sounds as good as dCS, but it aint't happened yet, and I have dragged home most of the competition for direct comparison. The new dCS single box player is superb on SACD, as John Atkinson reported, but not the equal of the full dCS stack. But then, for me, nothing is-- so far.
