Hmmm.I'm sorry to say that my good friend Rick G. is in error here, and I should set the record straight, since his comments in this thread could lead to some real confusion.
Mike Pappas has not had his SCD-1 modded in any way for DSD digital output. Frankly, I don't know of anyone who has yet put DSD digital out on consumer machines, apart from Sharp and Accuphase, with proprietary solutions. (There is no "official" standard for DSD output from consumer machines at this time.) Mike is a professional broadcast/audio engineer, does pro recordings in DSD using pro consoles, and has a Meitner A/D and D/A chipset as part of the standard pro chain for DSD production work.
Rick thought that Mike had modded his SCD-1, and posted on the assumption that Mike had done so and that others would find the information to be useful, but Mike got in touch with me today to say "Nope!"
So Rick was mistaken.
I wouldn't want Mike Pappas or Ed Meitner...who are good guys, and good friends...to be put in an embarrassing situation because of this misunderstanding, nor have fellow AA'ers think that they can line up over at Meitner's for mods. No can do!
Just wanted to clarify the matter....
