The player's mfg gives us digital out so we can upgrade the dac if we choose. I would not think that this is in the mfg interest either. Only a count on one hand are the players that do not have a digital out. I think Naim is one.Companies like Lucid make decent outboard clock unit, much like outboard DACs that can improve the sound. I am just surprised that if an outboard clock improves the already super DCS stack that it must be equally important for less expensive players and if cost effective, might be included. Since it is not included in lesser player it may be that the price is cost prohibitive to do so.
The Monarchy DIP comes to mind as partial jitter reduction solution, but it then must be fed into an external DAC if I am not mistaken.
