RE: lossless protocol implementation

There are lots of manufacturers of computer-based audio hardware that communicates via Ethernet, by far the dominant networking protocol in use today. Ethernet can be hard-wired or used wirelessly (Wi-Fi).

However not only are there health risks associated with Wi-Fi and other microwave radiation, but all of the computer audio users who use Wi-Fi and "smart phones" (neither of which I do) tell me that the sound quality of a hard-wired connection between the audio data and DAC ("renderer") sound far superior to the same thing when using a Wi-Fi connection for the audio data.

If you don't mind turning your house into a low-level microwave oven with Wi-Fi, I am told that using the Wi-Fi to control the system doesn't interfere with the sound quality nearly to the degree that sending the audio data via Wi-Fi does.

Hope this helps.

PS - One day, Wi-Fi will be gone and replaced with a not only safe, but actually health-enhancing alternative, such as Li-Fi. (see link)
