I can't argue with anything you say. And I still repect Mike Moffat's opinion (in general). I guess the way to find out would be to buy one and see, but it's hard for me to imagine that the digital signal wouldn't be degraded in some way - either by all of the DSP or possibly by a some sort of system RFI/EMI that might be added from the power supply (especially if it is a switcher) or the high-speed (hundreds of MHz) DSP chip required.It's also somewhat ironic as Mr. Moffat makes a big deal about his digital filter, which he claims is the only one on the market that retains the original data points, in addition to the interpolated samples ("oversampling" or "upsampling"). The Gizmo *has* to discard the original data in order to shift the pitch of the digital audio file without also changing the tempo (playback rate).
