Thanks Charles. That linked video was informative and witty. A=432? Seems to be " New Age snake oil". Remember to keep your razor sharp forever by placing it under a small pyramid :-)
And of course I agree with your point about the relative inaudibility of the difference between A = 432 and C=256 and hope that my metaphor of a subjectively unnoticed small deviation from a precise turntable speed of 33.33rpm made a similar point.
It is impossible to object to lower tunings per se as there is historical evidence that they should be used in certain repertoire, but to have a device to treat fixed recordings so that the pitch lowers but the tempo stays the same is a form of artistic philistinism. The tempo chosen by the conductor/performers will already have taken account of the pitch, consciously or unconsciously.
