The audio from my QX-5 Twenty fell silent last week and a reset didn't cure the problem. It's running firmware version F and I'm going to try to download the latest version G if I can figure out how to do it -- need to to call Ayre tech today. Meanwhile, to play SACDs, I replaced the Blue Jeans balanced cables from the C-5xemp to the KX-5 Twenty with balanced Cardas Clear Light cables. I perceive, or imagine, that the sound has more depth and detail with a bit tighter bass. I'm always skeptical of those who spend money on an upgrade then claim sonic improvement. It seems as though I do perceive a sonic improvement, but it may just be expectation fulfillment. It did remind me, though, how wonderful music can sound when played on that aging device.
