Certainly no plans at this point. It is still possible to make CD players, but to make something that will play more formats than that becomes extremely difficult. It also appears that much of the world is evolving towards a rental model rather than a purchasing model. I can understand that for video as there are rarely any films (let alone TV shows!) that I would want to watch more than once. But music is different. I've listened to my very favorite music thousands of times by now. Renting it would just be silly, in my opinion.

As noted before, many music lovers I know listen to Spotify (with lossy compression) to discover new music, and then purchase the things they like in a higher-resolution, better-sounding format.

That's why I don't understand the appeal of streaming services for high-quality music. To get CD-quality or better will cost me $20 (or Euros or Pounds) per month. If I live 20 more years (I'm 61 now), that adds up to 240 months x $20 = $4,800 - assuming there are no rate increases over the next 20 years (hah!). I can do a lot of things with $5,000 - invest it, buy new gear, buy new music, buy concert tickets - anyting. Why piss it away - especially when there is little evidence that the "high quality" music rental services will even be around in 20 years? But that's just me.
