...The Marantz SA-7S1 is sure a fine sounding player. I personally thought that EMM Labs CDSD/DAC6e SE sounded a lot better in comparison, but at a higher price point of course.
When it comes to digital playback evaluation, it is very important what your reference is. Personally, I've set my bar as high as I can with my highly hot-rodded vinyl rig featuring the top-line Dynavector XV-1S cartridge. Once you hear this sound, you realize how difficult it is to match it with any digital.
