I am thinking of a CD player to replace Karik/Numeric. I want it to be a meaningful upgrade. I heard the SCD1 and the Naim CD5 in a store setting recently, wonderful. Also the Marantz SA 14 in the SACD layer, again, wonderful. Its hard to borrow 5 CD players in one night so I may have to take them home 1 or 2 at a time.I heard the Naim CDX2 (around 5K)is coming out mid Oct, heard it was almost as good as the CDSII. The Naim is supposed to have a more upfront presentation than a Linn, but not as abrasive as the old theta processor. The salesman said the Karik Numeric is a little boring compared to the Naim.
The Karik Numeric is quite good in my opinion, and will be hard to give up.
Any of you have experience on the Naim products sound, like is it layered, smooth like a Linn, or more exciting and good pacing, but still smooth?
