Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: Most of this happened many years ago...

I know of that product. I also know of Frank's history. He started as Jenson's Stereo Shop. In fact the Dynaco 416 is actually Frank's work incorporated into the product line by Dynaco. The 410 was also a later stripped down version for less demanding applications like typical home systems.

Doubling output transistors and adding external capacitance is not necessarily a problem and can be a good enhancement. However the existing product's circuitry must be carefully evaluated to ensure the modifications are not detrimental. Frank is not a deep EE, but he does employ one or two engineers who are. And his team was an early user of SPICE to verify designs on a high end HP workstation of thet time. It's all in his articles.

Did you analyze all circuits in your case or did you just slap on a ridiculous amount of capacitance because "more is better"?
