Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Accepted Industry Standard Nomenclature

" I2S (Inter-IC Sound, pronounced "eye-squared-ess"), is an electrical serial bus interface standard used for connecting digital audio devices together."

I understand the issues and various engineering challenges (minutia) you keep bringing into the conversation but none of it changes industry standard nomenclature for what is considered to be a Serial interface vs a Parallel interface.

This is basic to the core so there should be agreement here.
