Aspects of the Planet struck me as pretty bad engineering. If the DAC really is a 1710, then the analogue-side VDD is badly filtered (just 100nF), while the two digital VDDs have their capacitors (10u elcaps)
at too much distance. Well, not really, as the ESR and ESL of those
cheap caps swamps the R and L of the tracks :-)

It will improve probably with a lot more filtering around the DAC,
specifically SMD ceramic caps soldered right onto the pins.

BTW, do you have any idea where the +12/-12V originates from? With only
three big(gish) reservoir caps seen after the transformer, all of them
at a positive voltage, this is odd, and fear arises ...
