No doubt that the 80's gave us the inception of the Compact Disc and Compact Disc Player. The 1990's really expounded on the player and made them better via modding. A 3rd revolution came around in the early 2000's w/ the SACD spinner and we saw a few brave souls modding them as well.
I bought my 1st CD player in 1988, a Sony ES, it finally died in 2005.
I like the Esoteric spinners for SACD duty only. I am still auditioning
CD players of the newer variety.
