I've been power the amp off and letting it cool for about 45 seconds so that it can't "feel" the Benchmark being turned off. It's silly that you would leave a $1300 piece of equipment that stays warm on 24/7. The way Benchmark describes the "muting" circuit, it sounds like the DAC goes to standby when there are no 1's and 0's present, but this does not seem to be the case based on how warm it stays when left on with no signal. Even changing the input to get rid of the two almost LED flashlight brightness lights(someone sleeps in the room where it is being used) does not cause it to go to any kind of standby as far as I can tell.
