You typically have to replace the whole laser assembly and then recalibrate the player.
I replace a Denon laser some years back. The replacement part was about $65 and I had to buy a service manual for another $15.
The removal of the old part and installation of the new one was fairly straightforward work if you are familiar with the internal workings of electronics with a mechanical aspect (CD players, tape machines, etc.)
However, the alignment process required an oscilloscope, voltage meter and tone generator in order to calibrate and align the new part. I happened to already have those tools and have many years of hobbyist electronic repair under my belt so I didn't consider it too hard.
If you are missing the needed equipment (as described in the service manual for the make/model in question) or lack experience in servicing electronics, you probably don't want this to be your first job.
