I've never paid much attention to all of the stuff about up-sampling v non upsampling until I bought a CDP with defeatible upsampling via a button on the remote. When listening with my 'test' CD's I concluded that I didn't care for up-samplying at all - the highs seemed rolled off/muddy in comparision to non-upsampling and I just forgot about it.
One day I put in an old CD which was typical of a lot of my old analog remasters and early digital's. I though I'd give the upsampling a try, nothing to lose. And, for the first time, the sound was not fatiguing. Is this what up-sampling was supposed to do - make bad CD's sound better?
I know zip about digital except what I hear............:-)
