Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: Question

One thing that I have learned (and I have been doing this professionally for over 20 years) is that it is impossible to make a product that will be all things to all people. If we add all the features that everyone has asked for, the unit would probably cost triple what we are aiming for.

There is an old saying, "Performance, features, price -- pick two."

We pretty much don't do the "compromise" thing. So with an Ayre product we go for performance and price. If you want features, you might be better off with another brand. Just be aware what two items from the list you are selecting and what is being omitted.

And yes, to be perfectly blunt, I would rather listen to an uncompromised DAC with an Ax-7e than a compromised DAC with a cheesy volume control into a V-5xe.
