The problem is politics affects everything and so if you mention something that is fruit of the tree of politics then the moderators have to go into overtime to determine how much or what they will allow - because the initial post is genuinely related to audio and policy does affect those audio products.
The trick probably is to address the policy and not the people or parties. Or perhaps take quotes from music artists to make you point since the vast majority of music lyrics can make the points you want to make but is just a music quote - so perhaps we need to learn to post in Bob Dylan and Jackson Browne lyrics.
I think the main thing is very rarely does anyone change their minds based on what is written on a forum - so you wind up with the same exact arguments from the same exact people for years and years. Hence no politics, religion, or cable DBTs.
All that happens is you preach to the choir - same for Solid State versus Tubes or Digital versus vinyl.
I personally don't get bothered by discussing any of these things - because I try to look at the arguments on the opposing side and weigh the facts and see where they are coming from - it is much easier to do depending how the person brings their case to the table - if they present a credible case AND they have considered the strengths in my case - then you can have a good non argumentative discussion - and forums would have allowed that.
In this case I asked what exactly will the Trade Tariff do to help the average audiophile consumer or the mid level companies like Manley - if someone could explain to me a really solid case for why this is the best thing for all concerned - then I'll weigh that. But would happens is this thing called "whataboutism" where instead of ever directly addressing a point it becomes "well about [what some other country is doing], [a different economic policy], [an "ism" of some sort].
Whenever I watch a news show and someone is being indicted or has proven to do something illegal - watch the newscasters come on and say "But what about (enter name of opposition party leader) did 2 years ago".
Plus no one ever admits that the side they pick has weaknesses and won't admit those weaknesses - they choose a team and come hell or high water they will never admit to any failing.
I like Vinyl but CD has no surface noise - CD has a lower noise floor - period - it's a fact - it doesn't mean that CD is better but it is factually better in this particular regard. I can like Vinyl and choose vinyl and STILL be able to acknowledge the Strengths of CD.
Try to ignore the personality - what people should do is download and read the speeches of political leaders - read what they say - the personality and showmanship get in the way. Then figure out if the policy is doing something useful
Does the policy help Manley Labs and companies like Manley Labs and does it help people buying Manley Labs etc amplifiers - and does it help any or all of Manley Labs suppliers?
Wait for someone to address that.
