But I'm not sure it will. Might last longer than CD, though! Irony upon irony, that physical formats might be a lifeline in the age of the smartphone. The very cleverness of streaming and virtual nature of digital supply presages its own decline, some would say. I can't be bothered any more as, having invested and re-invested in audio, I just don't seem to be their target audience any more - despite my significant spending. They're not looking after me and my interests. So I won't look after theirs.I tried SACD. I invested properly, having traded in a Marantz CD-7 for a Sony SCD-1. Talk about audio regrets! Not doing that again, life's just too short to be constantly betting on this or that as my source of music, and not being able to get what I want, or having to (re-)pay extortionate prices for it all.
Just not interested in investing in MQA when its very premise is based on the halting of other technological progress (internet speeds and storage). It seems antithetical to our age and times. Frankly, I'd be more impressed if Meridian produced super hi-res vinyl or tape - ha ha!
However, we're far more likely to see the audiophile hobby disappear up its own, hugely oversampled fundament. Sigh.
