That was his motive. As has been discussed before on the Asylum, while I was
uncomfortable with Tom using a pen name, this was grandfathered in when I
joined Stereophile 2 years later and I respected it. But all other Stereophile
writers are bylined with their legally given names.

Contrary to what another inmate posted, Corey Greenberg wrote under his
real name.
