Too many people...

At least in San Francisco these days.

Golden Gate Park is now a commuter corridor both east/west and north/south throughout the park, every road and most of the day. No more biking in the park. In fact, haven't biked in the park or the Presidio in years.

Going to the gym at UCSF? 15 to 20 minutes from Great Highway to UCSF via Lincoln(3 miles), and that's on a scooter splitting traffic at all of the stalled intersections. I could do that on a bike in that time 10-15 years ago.

They claim 850,000 now in San Francisco but I'd bet all of my IRAs it's more than 1 million now. No parking ANYWHERE and the streets are packed with Ubers and Lifts.

Santa Fe is 85,000 or so they say. Wife loves it here (art, music, opera, etc.)

I can handle the high desert having spent form 1996 to 2006 in Utah, although we're now living a couple thousand feet higher.

Likely up-sizing a bit, looking a few miles either north or south of Santa Fe, in the country. Certainly won't miss the sirens, car alarms and barking dogs that are now life in a no-longer-small city.

First they came for the dumb-asses
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a dumb-ass
