RE: "..but many "good ears" who've listened extensively to both feel that the O/93 is the better loudspeaker."

Guessing there are a few variables here, such as room size and amplification (power).

I'm also guessing that all things being otherwise equal, the O/93 in a smaller room with the speakers closer to the listening position might well image better (if sound stage is your 'thing') while the O/96 might 'fill the room' with a lifelike performance listening to full scale orchestra performances in a larger room with a lower powered amp.

Maybe.

And as I may be having to scale down the size of my listening room from a 600+ sq. ft. 'loft' with a 12 ft. peaked ceiling to a more reasonable 12 x 15 foot space, shared with furnishings, my Edgar Horns may have to go. :-(

And this while moving from a 1600 sq. ft. home (tiny 1000 sq. ft. San Francisco home with a 600 sq ft loft as an added story) to a 3100 sq. ft. home here in Santa Fe. =:-0

Love to hear what the O/93 would sound like powered by an 8 watt 300B amp in a reasonable sized room and on large scale classical recordings.

Does DeVore normally show at RMAF in Denver?

Now living 'just' a 400 mile drive from Denver now so it will be easy to get there.

First they came for the dumb-asses
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a dumb-ass
