While some magazines publish a fixed number of pages each month - for
example, HiFi News always has a size of 140 pages, Sound & Vision 76
pages - we have always floated the number of pages in a Stereophile issue,
depending on the number of ad pages sold. We try to maintain an
approximate 50/50 split between editorial and ads, which means our issue
size can fluctuate between 116 pages and 212 pages. But this way, the more
ads are sold, the greater the amount of content I can publish.
