RE: Man, its 2017. How many black reviewers does S'phile have? How about other hifi mags/e-zines?

No. But after I started publishing Stephen's writing, we became aware that
we were reaching a lot more women than before.

That is correct. Unexpected but welcome, of course.

I disagree. It comes down to the quality of the writing. 20 years ago I
published a regular column on entry-level gear written by a woman in her
20s, Kristen Weitz. Kristen was a good writer but not in Stephen's class
and we didn't see any uptick in women readers as a result of my publishing
her.
