Don't disagree. But the measurements do show if the designers have the
appropriate engineering chops. If they don't, then it's possible that
the good sound is the result of serendipity rather then design.
What I find fascinating is that NOS DACs like the AudioNotes can't produce
an accurate waveform. Instead they produce a jagged-looking waveform - see
fig.1 in the Stereophile review. And that, of course, is the criticism that
some audiophiles incorrectly accused early CD players of.
