HP & Acoustat X

I think it was late 1976, early 1977 when Wendell Diller and I visited HP. We were working for ARC.

Our next stop was to see JGH of Sterophile, but that story can be told some other time, in a galaxy far, far way...

I was especially excited on this trip, since I had subscribed to TAS from the beginning issue.

When we listened to HP's Acoustat Xs, he insisted on sitting in the back right hand corner of the room. Said he could tell more by listening there. Seriously.

Fortunately, he didn't continue on that path, but at this time, he did - I thought it was especially unusual given the dispersion characteristics of the Acoustat X.

Best regards,

Jim Smith
