RE: "Stereophile" style- A bit cluttered and features "The Deadbeats' Popup"

PAINTING: American Zenith, 1958

John Atkinson,

It's interesting to read that the Stereophile subscription pop-up is designed to appear only in the first instance. A couple of months ago I wrote to Ebay concerning their persistent sellers' pop-up and miracle- an actual person responded from Ebay! "Jim Griffith" who appears to be Ebay's Father Christmas wrote back and told me the same- it's supposed to appear once. The note said:

> " Hello Bambi,

The pop up is not supposed to be reoccurring. Apparently it is for some viewers. We are looking into it.

Regards,

Griff

So, I'm in the unfortunate, ubiquitous "some viewers" group that contracted the popup disease! I wrote back, asking whether the others in the "some viewers" punishment sector were also Mozilla Firefox users, but haven't had a reply. Being in the "some viewers" dungeon may be as a result of my having insulted Microsoft in 1993, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2004,2005,...

I don't like to be a whiner or a contrarian, but the constant assault of advertising in every media plus billboards, the telephone, and buses has become so extreme that I tend to try and expunge it from any activity over which I have choice.

Of course, I'm also a realist and understand the need, but as the opportunities to advertise have expanded, the opportunities seized are logarithmic- and have ever noisier soundtracks.

Cheers,

Bambi B
